Jan Somer – EFSUMB honorary member

Dr.ir. Jan Somer was elected honorary member of the EFSUMB for his great contribution to the ultrasound community by inventing the phased array transducer and bringing it to clinical application.

Best paper award EFSUMB for dr. Gert Weijers

At the 35th EUROSON meeting in Naples, the prize for the best published paper of the European Federation of Societies in Ultrasound in Medicine and Biology was awarded to dr.ing. Gert Weijers for his paper entitled “Noninvasive Staging of Hepatic Steatosis Using Calibrated 2D US with Liver Biopsy as the Reference Standard as published in Radiology.

Jan Somer new Honorary Member of the NVMU

Dr.ir. Jan Somer has been appointed as Honorary Member of the Dutch Society of Medical Ultrasound (NVMU) for his groundbreaking work and achievements in the early developments of the phased array transducer. The distinction was awarded to him by prof. Chris de Korte after giving an inspiring keynote lecture during the MEMEA conference in Eindhoven.

Autumn meeting 2023

After the delightful meeting in Eindhoven last April, the NVMU will have their second 2023 meeting at the Radboudumc, NL. See ‘Meetings’ for more information

Spring meeting 2021 – 17th of March (online)

After a one year hiatus due to COVID-19 pandemic, the NVMU is resuming its scientific meetings. This year the first (spring) meeting will be hosted online. If you are not on the mailing list and want to participate, please send us an email!

Autumn meeting 2020 – cancelled

The NVMU Autumn Meeting is cancelled due to the current COVID-19 situation in The Netherlands. We hope to have a meeting in Spring 2021, either online or (hopefully) in person.

Thomas van den Heuvel wins EFSUMB YIA

Thomas van den Heuvel (Radboudumc, Nijmegen, NL) has won the 2020 EFSUMB Young Investigator Award for his presentation entitled “Introducing prenatal US screening in resource-limited settings using artificial intelligence”. Thomas, congratulations on behalf of the entire NVMU! 

Spring meeting 2020 – cancelled

Due to the current lockdown and COVID-19 situation in the Netherlands, the 2020 spring meeting is cancelled. We regret not meeting this semester and hope that everyone will stay safe and healthy.
