The Dutch Society for Medical Ultrasound is extremely proud to announce that Prof. Klaas Bom was elected honorary fellow of the European Federation of Societies (EFSUMB). He received this prestigious honor for his ground breaking developments in medical ultrasound. Prof. Bom invented and developed the first linear array transducer, the intracardiac array, and the intravascular catheter. Already in the mid-seventies, he had the vision to develop the minivisor, the world’s first portable ultrasound scanner. Besides that, Prof Bom is up to now a great teacher and mentor of the Dutch ultrasound community.
The award was presented to Klaas and his wife Lia during a lovely dinner at Utrecht with the (available) board members of the NVMU.
